Background

Having spent several years working across Sub-Saharan Africa, I’ve collaborated on a range of projects with NGOs, social enterprises and start-ups. I’ve delivered education and youth programmes and designed FemTech and EdTech platforms. I’ve campaigned for maternity transportation in conflict zones, and building safe house initiatives for vulnerable women and girls.

These projects provided firsthand insight into the critical roles of locally led initiatives and also deepened my understanding of the numerous challenges and bottlenecks that can prevent these organisations from achieving their potential.

When I returned to the UK in 2021, I was keen to deepen my understanding of how to capture challenges and opportunities to better inform decision-making in programme mobilisation and delivery. This led to my appointment at an Education Charity where I oversaw the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) across some of the country's most esteemed teacher development programmes and youth employability initiatives.

Through my ongoing support to NGOs as a MEL specialist, I am continually inspired by their ground-level impact. This drives my commitment to spotlight their efforts, showcasing their unique approaches and the meaningful outcomes they achieve within their communities.

I've had the pleasure of undertaking numerous bike-packing expeditions across Europe, each journey filled with memorable and unique encounters.

Living and working in Zambia without a car, my bike was my main mode of transport. I would cycle through the townships of Lusaka and rural bushlands to meet beneficiaries, school leaders, local chiefs, and government officials.

When I worked in Cameroon, I had the incredible opportunity to mountain bike through winding red dirt roads, vast palm oil and eucalyptus plantations.

Through these experiences, I've learned that cycling and bike-packing offers an approach to travel that encourages authentic connections with local communities in ways other modes of transport cannot.
